Fivaan is a small publication about three things men actually spend time figuring out: haircuts, clothes, and the rooms they live in. We write practical guides — what to ask your barber for, what suits your face shape, how to dress well without thinking about it too hard, and how to make a home look considered without a renovation budget.
Why this site exists
Fivaan started with a haircut that went wrong. Not badly wrong — the ordinary kind, where you show the barber a photo and walk out with something that isn’t it. The problem usually isn’t the barber. It’s the photo. The guy in it has a different hair type, a different face shape, and forty-five minutes of styling you are never going to do on a Tuesday morning.
Most style content online has the same problem. Decor ideas photographed in houses where nobody cooks. Outfit guides that assume you already own thirty pieces you don’t. Haircut roundups shown on one model with perfect hair, as if that settles it.
So we write the version we wanted to read. Guides that account for your actual hair, your actual budget, and the ten minutes you realistically have in the morning.
What we publish
Men’s hairstyles. Real cuts on real heads. Wherever we can, we embed the original barber’s own work rather than a stock photo, so you can see how a cut looks on actual clients — different hair types, different face shapes — and we explain exactly what to ask for in the chair and how the cut grows out between visits.
Boys’ haircuts. For parents who want a cut that looks sharp in the school photo and survives a football pitch. Low fuss, easy to describe to a barber.
Fashion. Outfit formulas rather than trend reports. Weekend fits, smart casual that doesn’t try too hard, and what to wear when it’s 30 degrees and linen is the only answer.
Home decor. Rooms built for daily life. Most of our decor guides start with a real constraint — a tiny kitchen with no cabinets, an awkward narrow wall, mirrored closet doors the landlord won’t let you replace — because that’s what decorating actually looks like.
How we work
We research each guide against what barbers, stylists and designers are actually doing right now, not what looked good three years ago. When trends move, we go back and update the guide instead of leaving it to rot. And when we feature a barber’s or creator’s work, we embed it with full credit and a link to their page — if we’ve featured your work and you’d like it credited differently or taken down, email us and we’ll sort it quickly.
The people writing it
Oliver Reed — hairstyles, fashion & grooming. Oliver writes most of the hairstyle and fashion guides on Fivaan. His rule for style advice: if it takes more than ten minutes or three products in the morning, it doesn’t go in the guide. He has firm opinions about matte finishes and firmer ones about crunchy gel.
Ethan Wilson — home decor. Ethan handles the decor side of the site. He’s interested in the gap between rooms that photograph well and rooms you can actually live in, which is why his guides tend to start with a problem — zero cabinet space, a mirrored closet from 1987 — rather than a trend.
